The fighters from even 50 years ago would be heavier today do to the fact that people are just larger and more knowledge on diet and how it effects the body. Jack Dempsey, who scaled in at 187 for the Willard fight, would tip the scales at around 205-210 today.

That said, fighters from that era were in better shape due to more roadwork and proper training. Today's boxers lift far too much weights which isn't functional to what they must achieve in the ring. Chopping wood, push-ups, pull-ups, dips, and lunges.....(combat training) should be the workout program for all fighters.
