Also included for this year is a strike-shortened version of the schedules. Due to a players' strike which commenced on Aug. 12, play was halted. The strike dragged on without resolution, and on Sept. 14 the rest of the regular season and all of the post-season were cancelled. At the time of the work stoppage, teams had played between 113-118 games, with the average being 115 games.
