Well, I knew I'd have to make one rules change. In examining the player I created and the player metsgeek created, and then thinking about it, it seems that there's extreme reluctance to allocate many points to speed/steal/running. So I changed the rule for allocating points (and edited the post at the top of this thread) as follows:
Speed/Stealing (1-100) - $0.50 per point
(Running instincts will be the average of Speed and Stealing; you don't need to pay for it.)
That should lower the cost of providing realistic Speed, Stealing, and Running Instincts for players.
