Dempsey calls it quits
MW - Jack Dempsey NP coming off a loss to Tommy Ryan has decided to hang it up. He retires with a record of 30-4.
Dempsey was always a force in the MW division, but couldn't seem to come through in title fights as he went 1-4 in title bouts.
His shining moment came in March of 1906 when he defeated Bob Fitzsimmons to win the title, only to lose it to Stanley Ketchel 4 months later. Two of his four losses came to Fitzsimmons.
His last fight was a loss by TKO11 to Tommy Ryan in September of 1907. He will be missed.
