If a tree fell in the forrest ....
September 23, 1908
In possibly the worst title fight card ever, #10 Dal Hawkins (11-9-1) scored a TKO14 to take the LBA title from Honey Mellody (15-13).
Hawkins dominated the fight in front of the 30-40 people still left in the arena. There was no cheering or boos during the fight but there was a lively debate about the future of the Geese out on Old Miller's pond.
Hawkins cut Mellody in the 3rd and Mellody never got any kind of rhythem going. Mellody hit the canvas in the 11th and was pretty much out on the ropes in the 14th.
I had it 125-122 at the time of the stoppage. Ringside expert, Markus Heinsohn, woke up long enough to have it 127-119.
