HW Joe Godfrey decided to call it quits after getting knocked out in the 7th round by Jack Lester (7-0-1).

Joe retires with a record of 4-23-2. Joe was one of the original HW's fighting for almost 9 years.

He fell back to the club ranks in February of 1903 with a record of 2-7 and was never able to get back. He never strung together two consectutive wins.

His biggest win was a 5th round KO of Mike Sheehan in August of 1907.
