Email League
I have no idea how successful this would be or if it has been tried before.
I'm poor and not very web-savvy (or is it saavy?) so having a website is out of the question, for me. But, I've always wanted to run a league. This could (theoretically) work.
The deal: I email out the file. GMs make their changes and email it back. I import all the changes, run the sim. Then, I email the file back out, with a calculated inventory of what went on during the sim.
A couple downfalls: I don't know if this could be a "sim so many days, every day" league. Possibly. I'd love to do 15-20 days a sim, a sim a day...if you catch my drift. The lack of a website would most definitely suck, with no way to get the player pages up online, neither catobase or a forum. The lack of a forum is probably the biggest thing. How does one do free agent offers, and trades even? No real way to contact the other owners (other than email, messaging services...). It would work like fantasy sports did back in the day. Except then you usually called your buddy up on the phone and worked a deal out that way. Not so much in this case.
Has anyone tried a league this way before? How successful was it? Would anyone want to try a league this way, or are we all pretty much locked in to all leagues have a website? I'm interested in people's thoughts on this.
