With OOTP seemingly comfortable with its lead, I don't feel they made a whole lot of progress in the last couple of years (others will disagree, I'm sure). Meanwhile, IMO Puresim had been making great strides and seemed to actually have OOTP in its sights. Now, with the complete rewrite of OOTP and being able to get a good look at SI's library of code for CM/FM, I expect that the upcoming OOTPBM2006 will take a huge step forward and once again put itself far ahead of the competition. If you're only going to buy one of these games, I'd recommend you put your money on OOTPBM2006. I'd definitely recommend trying Puresim's demo though (see DH's link above).

If you do a search here you'll find some reviews of the other games and comparisons to OOTP, including one by myself. Just make sure to take the dates of the posts into consideration as some points might be out-of-date.
