WWBU Monthly Special Edition,

Thought I would go through some changes I have made to the way the WWBU universe is being run. As I have gone along I have tweaked, and in some cases overhauled, some of systems I use to manage the universe.

Behind the Veil

Regional Titles
In the Heavyweight division I will be adding three regional titles that will be contested. I have chosen to have these titles active in one division only for a couple of reasons. The first reason is that the Heavyweight division will have a large number of fighters active at any one time, thus ensuring that a number of nationalities will be represented and the second reason is that with a large number of active fighters that the lesser fighters will have a chance at a bit of glory.

There will be four regional belts;

• North American
• European
• British Empire/Commonwealth
• Intercontinental (everyone else basically)

The holder of one of these belts will defend the belt everytime the fighter has a bout against another eligible fighter, i.e. if a British fighter holds the British Empire belt and he fights an Australian he will be defending the belt. If a regional belt holder ever signs to fight the WWBU champion then the regional belt will be vacated and the two highest ranked eligible fighters will fight for the belt in two months time.

The Beginning Stages

Beginning fighters progress from the Beginning group to the Prospects group based on their number of wins. At the moment there is a percentage chance after each victory equal to (Wins – 5) * 10 % chance of the fighter moving into the Prospects group. Once a fighter moves to the Prospects group he will be fighting other Prospects, whereas he only fought Tomato Cans in the Beginners group. This has meant that fighters that are not A+ prospects have been getting stuck at the Prospect stage because they have generally needed 7 or 8 wins against other Prospects to earn their way to 15 wins and a WWBU world ranking.

I have decided to tweak this slightly so that fighters will on average spend less time in the Prospects group before they get ranked. I have amended the formula to (Wins – 8) *10 % chance of moving into the Prospects group after each win. This should mean that on average fighters move into the Prospects group with 12 wins rather than the 9 or 10 they have been.

A New Aging System

I have modified the aging model that I am using for the WWBU. The new model is still based on the principles of the Cubedrum aging method. In fact the Beginning and Pre-Prime stages are the same. However once a fighter gets to the Prime stage it all changes. A fighter will accumulate career points as per the Cubedrum method (see http://www.cornerwork.com/modules.ph...article&sid=63) , however instead of subtracting those points from 100 and moving to Post-Prime and End I have a new system.

Every twenty points the fighter will make an Aging Roll. The Aging Roll is a percentage chance that an aging effect will be applied. For every 20 career points accumulated the fighter will have a 10% chance of an Aging effect beihng applied, i.e. if a fighter has accumulated 62 career points he has a 30% chance of an Aging effect being applied. If an Aging Effect is to be applied I am using the table that either DJDean or Lee used for their universe (so credit goes to them) as shown below:

1-20 Slowing Down Both Control Factors -1
21-40 Reactions Affected Punches Landed -2 Defense -2
41-50 Reactions Badly Gone Punches Landed -4 Defense -4
51-55 Loss of Power Hitting Power -1
56-70 Punch Resistance Fading Knockdown, Knockout, Recovery +1
71-75 Punch Resistance Badly Gone Knockdown, Knockout, Recovery +2
76-80 Scar Tissue Accumulating Cut Resistance +2
81-85 Tiring Badly Endurance -2
86-90 Jaded Absorb Punishment +1 Endurance -1 Aggressiveness -1
91-95 Lease of Life Punches Landed +2
96-00 Wily Old Experienced Fox Both Control Factors +1 Intelligence +1

Once the aging effect has been applied the fighter will need to make a Retirement Check. The Retirement check is a percentage chance that the fighter will retire. The chance that a fighter will retire is equal to Aging Effects applied x 10. So if a fighter is having his second aging effect applied he will have a 20% chance of retiring.
