7th July 1889 - Rushcutters Bay
Billy McCarthy (8-1) TKO7(Cuts) Jack Langdon (1-11)
Dan Creedon (12-1) KO7 Paddy Norton (0-12)
Facile victories for Creedon and McCarthy.
British & Commonwealth Welterweight Title
Tom Meadows (9-3) KO12 Jem Carney (16-8)
With only 30 seconds left in the final round, Meadows delivered a perfect right hook to end the brave challenge of veteran Carney.
If the first fight between the pair was a close run affair, this was a walkover with the defending champion dominating from the start and had Carney on the canvas twice before he was counted out.
Meadows was a street ahead on all three cards, he is now likely to look for a fight against a top 5 ranked opponent.
WBF World Heavyweight Title
Peter Jackson (19-1) TKO7 Steve O'Donnell (7-5)
If Jackson was lethargic in his most recent defence against Charles Hadley, he made up for it with a dominant one sided display against his fellow countryman O'Donnell.
Jackson was on top from the opening bell in the 10th defence of his title.
