Yeah, the odds are with you.
I think the Yanks will win, but the Pirates have to play the Brooklyn Dodgers twice and the New York Giants three times in the last 5.
They will have to face Dazzy Vance (18-6) and Don Sutton (13-9).
Then go up against Carl Hubbell (14-9), Christy Mathewson (14-12) and Juan Marichal (14-10).
Manager John McGraw might pitch lesser pitchers against the Cubs in the last two games of that series, hope he gets a couple of wins and save his Big 3 for the Pirates. He might also try to get two games out of either Hubbell or Mathewson.
The Phils are hoping the Giants sweep the Bucs. Then they might sneak into the World Series. Philadelphia has Pete Alexander (18-7), Chris Short (5-3 2.24)), Robin Roberts (15-8) and Alexander again in their expected rotation. So they look solid...plus they close out against the Cardinals for two games and the last place Reds in the last 3 games.
Mort Cooper (12-14) and Larry Jackson (5-5) will probably be on the mound for St. Louis against the Phils. Smokey Joe Williams (5-10) and Eppa Rixey (10-6) might go for Cincy. The Reds are just trying to get the long season over. They may give some of their other pitchers the end-of-the-season starts, just to see what they might do, looking forward to next year.
