Anyway, while I agree that "marketing" is different from "moderating," these forums are OOTP's primary means of communicating with its customer base, so it strikes me as a little silly to suggest that the two are distinct from each other. As an abstract business concept, it makes sense to me that SI's top marketer play an active role in the day-to-day administration of these forums.

And again, from what I've seen I believe that Marc has done a better job handling us "obnoxious" (potential) customers than Henry or Steve did in the past. But given my sporadic attention to the board, maybe I missed something.
No, I dont believe you missed anything. I'd vowed not to respond to this post but some of the comments seem to be bordering on hysteria and the bandwagon grows.

I've run the Sports Interactive community for nine years, I know how to mod. The same basic principles of modding apply no matter what the forum is.

So far, I think in terms of modding I'm guilty of closing 2 threads, both by Ford Prefect, and both for posting when I'd asked them to be taken off-line.

I've decided that the next time you'll see a post on the forums and a new item on the website from me is when I announce the release date. Till then, you can all speculate and discuss the rights and wrongs of this decision and the lack of blogs on some of the games key features till your hearts content. As I said from day 1 - we never planned to give it to you all straight away.
