The Tigers have trouble...

Catcher Steve Nicosia has fractured his hip in a collision at the plate. He will miss about a month. Tim Blackwell moves back into the starters role, while longtime AAA backstop Jesus De La Rosa will fill in.

Veteran SS Tony LaRussa injured his shoulder, so the future is arriving a bit early, in the forms of Glenn Hoffman and Lenny Faedo.

#2 starter Pat Zachry broke his hand and was lost for 5 weeks. Lary Sorensen fills the vacancy.

So, through 20 games, the Tigers are flirting with the .500 mark.
