Reynolds Tosses First No-Hitter in AABL History; USC Trims ASU Lead
May 24, 2006
Fullerton, Calif.--Oklahoma State right-hander Allie Reynolds found an attention-getting way to earn his first victory of the season; he tossed a no-hitter.
Reynolds, nicknamed "Super Chief" by his teammates, recorded the first no-hitter in the history of the All-American Baseball League. Reynolds, 1-6, handcuffed Cal State Fullerton in the 5-0 win. Reynolds lost his bid for a perfect game when he walked Dann Howitt with two outs in the fifth inning. Reynolds struck out a season-high 13 en route to the Cowboy win.
"My fastball really had movement today," Reynolds said. "I felt as though no one could touch me. It's a rare feeling, but one that I welcome."
Robin Ventura led the Oklahoma State offense by going 3-for-5 with a home run. Jeff Robinson, 4-3, was the loser for Cal State Fullerton.
Oklahoma State, 8-2 in its last 10 games, has climbed into third place. Cal State Fullerton, meanwhile, has gone 3-7 and dropped to fifth.
The boxscore is shown below.
