New York finally got to Waddell in the fifth when a double by pinchhitter Yutaka Fukumoto (1.000/0/0) and Bill Terry's (.200/0/1) single made it 4-1. The Giants really made it close in the seventh. Bill Terry, Martin Dihigo (.643/2/3) and Barry Bonds (.167/1/1) all singled to load the bases. Another single by Mel Ott (.250/0/3) scored a pair to make it 5-3.
