What I did to correct the logos that were squished, discolored, and off-center, was to do the following in Photoshop CS:

1 - change the image mode to RGB color (IMAGE - MODE - RGB COLOR)
2 - save the image as transparent PNG (select background w/magic wand tool, HELP - EXPORT TRANSPARENT IMAGE, follow wizard)

I also resized the PNG's to exactly 150 x 150 to prevent the squishing caused by non-square images (IMAGE - CANVAS SIZE).

Photoshop experts might know a better way to do all this, but it worked for me.
