Barry Bonds (1985-1999) - Really, REALLY sad - Was a solid player until September of 1993 (he had 34 HR's in '93, a career high) when he dislocated his shoulder. The injury put him on the DL for over a year after which he was never the same again. Missed the 1994 season entirely. Signed as a free agent after the 1995 season for $540,000 with the Bath Ironmen and was traded the very same day for a pair of catchers. Played less and less each year after before finally calling it quits in 1999.

Played solid (albeit not spectacular) ball until 1999 when he was plagued by injuries, the final one lasting 2 months at which he was promptly released by his team as soon as he came off the DL. Spent the remainder of his career bouncing between the majors and AAA, before calling it quits in 2004. Played his last major league game in 2002.

& Alex Rodriquez?

A-rod - 1994 to 2006 - Never hit more than 26 HRs a year, spent roughly half his career platooned. 157 HRs and a .269 career batting average when all was said and done, plus a ton of injuries. Retired in 2007 after not seeing any playing time that year.
