It's also far and away the most realistic baseball game ever made. Yes, I'm including Diamond Mind and Strat and even APBA in this because in a career sim you really don't know whether your 3-time MVP who's hitting .240 this year is just slumping or if your scout is wrong and he's fallen off a cliff. Only a sadist would play 1984's Gorman Thomas for 150 at-bats - you can just look at his card and see that he's not going to get a hit for you. But what if you thought that Stormin' Gorman still had another 30-HR season in him? If you're as bad as the Mariners, maybe you do give him 150 ABs before calling it a season.
It's really a wonderful, wonderful game. If you haven't played OOTP before, I think you may enjoy it even more because you won't be relearning things you'll feel like you had "down" before, which can be really frustrating even if the changes are for the better.
