It may also work to input actual league totals for the year in question, but I haven't tried that.
" to the first part. The game needs data to work with in order to figure out accurate stats for later. Unfortunately, that means that you'll have to sacrifice your first year to the baseball gods. Well, actually I have pretty decent success with comparing 2005 to the stats of the first year I want to sim and adjusting that way. That means that if, on a per-at bat basis, there are 15% more hits in the sim year than in 2005, you increase the modifier to 1.015 and so on and so forth.

One thing to watch out with swampy's suggestion: do *NOT* just put in actual league totals for the year in question. The engine works weird with this, always has. If there are 10% more homeruns in the stats you input, that means there will be about 10% fewer in the actual game. If you really want to mess around with the league totals, you have to do everything in reverse. Personally, I find it just easier to use the modifiers to the left, which work exactly the way you'd think they should work.
