The Good: Pitchers Norwood Gibson (2.01) and Ed Reulbach (2.48) ranked fourth and 10th among East ERA leaders.

The Bat: Third baseman Cap Anson finished fourth among East batting leaders at .312. He was tied for second in triples with 10 while his 196 hits was third best. Anson struck out just 12 times in 696 plate appearances.

The Ugly: The Irish didn't put up much of a fight in September and October. Notre Dame was just 8-20 during that span and wound up in eighth place.

Team MVP: Cap Anson, Third Base (shown below). The All-Star starter posted an OPS of .761 while ranking 12th in walks (61) and 15th in runs scored (71).
