"Pitch count limit option" does not appear to work...
I have read a lot about the bullpen AI in the new patch being better- and for the most part it is. But in the process of running literally dozens of simulations with Cubby's new rosters, I am finding saves to be low for individuals- though the league totals are correct. A typical season will have only one or two 40 save closers- where in real life it's more like 8-10..or more.
Anyway, after digging around, I was appalled to find out- just as example- though this was pretty common- that several times Brad Lidge pitched 2,3,4 and occasionally 5 inning stints throughout the season...All this with an endurance rating of 30.
While this bothers me in general- I thought I had a brilliant plan for fixing this AI issue by limiting all the closers to a set pitch count in the game strategy settings to 30 pitches. The real problem is Lidge would pitch 2 or 3 or 4 innings- and then be unavailable to close for 2 or 3 days- thus lowering his save totals (he had a ridiculous 21 saves in one season- with no injuries, all while pitching with a 2.24 ERA).
So I put in a hard pitch count- sim a season...AND...ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE. Lidge has 56 appearances for the year- and 32 of them were over 30 pitches...Am I missing something- or is this broken?
