I like to play as GM, so I create a fictional league and let the game chose players rather than using an inaugural draft. I invariably seem to get fired in the first season. It's no surprise. How the heck do I know how good my players are, or who the good players are in the rest of the league? In 6.0 and 6.5, I would use a star ranking, which gave me an overall feel for who was good and who wasn't. Now I'm just plain lost. Players are ranked on so many dimensions that it's virtually impossible to get a feel for the overall ability of a player, especially when you don't even have values for a lot of those dimensions even after scouting. I don't know what to do at this point and I'm ready to give up on the game. Does anyone have any suggestions?
One thing you could try is to simply sim a couple of years before taking over a team and use the stats that have been generated during the sim to decide who is good and who isn't.
