Southern Cal Reaches 100th Victory Mark as Prior Notches 15th Win
September 6, 2007
Austin, Tex.--The Southern California Trojans won their 100th game of the season Saturday by downing Texas 8-1.
Manager Rod Dedeaux's Trojans hold the best record in the All-American Baseball League at 100-39. USC has a nine-game lead over Arizona State and has reduced its magic number to 15.
"We aren't about to let up," said winning pitcher Mark Prior (15-6). "We have miles to go."
Fred Lynn, the West's leading hitter at .341, banged out two hits and drove home three runs. Lynn collected his West-leading 44th double to go along with his 21st home run of the season.
"Like Mark said, we're not satisfied just to reach 100 wins," said Lynn. "We intend to win it all."
USC has 21 regular season games remaining in an attempt to equal Arizona State's AABL-record 113 victories of a year ago.
