Previously undefeated MW Elvin Ayala from New Haven lost his first bout. I had been hoping that there would eventually be a showdown against the other undefeated MW/SMW New Haven prospect Chad Dawson.

Portland, Oregon's David Banks spent Thanksgiving Day traveling cross-country to take on New Haven, Connecticut middleweight prospect Elvin Ayala in the main event at The Roxy in Boston, Massachusetts on Friday.
Banks (12-1-1, 2 KOs) was a last minute replacement when veteran Freddy Cuevas was forced to withdraw three days before the fight due to an injury he sustained while training and subsequently retired. Banks apparently saved a good deal of his "Turkey Day" hunger for the ring, earning a split-decision victory over the previously unbeaten Ayala (16-1, 7 KOs).
Banks used a measured offense to score early over the Ayala. Ayala was never able to counter the superior timing and ring generalship of Banks.
Following the bout, a somber Ayala simply stated: "Tonight wasn't my night. But, hey, this is what I do. I'll be back, and hopefully he'll give me a rematch."
