1935 WORLD SERIES

9/27/1935 - GAME 1 PILGRIMS 6 - PERFECTOS 9

Brooklyn got out to an early 4-0 lead over Van Mungo, but the Pilgrims battled back to tie it with 4 runs in the 5th. Boston eventually took the lead by 1 in the 7th, but 4 Perfectos runs in the bottom half of the inning put the game out of reach, despite being outhit 17 to 10. John Stone led the way with 3 hits and 3 RBI.

9/28/1935- GAME 2 PILGRIMS 2 - PERFECTOS 3, 10 innings

Elmer Miller surprisingly held his own against Satchel Paige, allowing the bullpen to come in and shut the Pilgrims down the rest of the way. In the 10th, with the game tied at 2, pinch-hitter Terry Moore extended the game by reaching on a John Beckwith error and Jimmy O'Connell knocked him in one out later to put the Perfectos up 2 games to zip in front of a jubilant crowd. The Boston dugout is mute with silence.

9/30/1935 - GAME 3 PERFECTOS 4 - PILGRIMS 0

Ray Prim continues the amazing Brooklyn dominance with a 4-0 whitewashing of Boston. The Pilgrims again outhit the Perfectos, but Brooklyn's hits are much more timely. Joe Medwick leads with 2 hits and 2 RBI. One more win and the Pilgrims could be the victim of the greatest upset in decades.

10/1/1935 - GAME 4 PERFECTOS 2 - PILGRIMS 3

John Beckwith somewhat made up for his Game 2 error by leading the Pilgrims with a double and a triple, and holding off the Perfectos for at least one more game. With Satchel Paige pitching next, the momentum has a chance a shifting, but can they come back from a 3 game deficit?

10/2/1935 - GAME 5 PERFECTOS 5 - PILGRIMS 4

The Brooklyn magic appeared to have faded as Satchel Paige held the Perfectos bats at bay for 8 innings. Down 4-2 in the 9th, it appeared that Game 6 was an inevitability, but Joe Medwick had other ideas, knocking 2 runs and sparking a rally off Paige that eventually gave them the game and the series before a disgusted Boston crowd. Perhaps the Pilgrims 5 straight World Series appearances are simply the result of weaker competition in the Federal League after all.
