1910 Award Winners

Top Hurler Awards
Jack Coombs was named the Northern Top Hurler Award winner. Cottonwood's right-hander put up fabulous numbers this year. In 39 starts this year Jack struck out 127 batters in 351.1 innings of work. His ERA is 1.59, his record 30-9. Jack pitched 7 shutouts and 38 complete games. He was 1st in the Northern in ERA and 1st in wins. Coombs wins the award for the 2nd time in his 4-year career.

Despite losing twice in the Cactus Champions Cup series to Prescott, Nogales pitcher Babe Adams smiled as he was named the Southern Top Hurler Award winner. This season Adams compiled an ERA of 2.25, going 32-8 in 40 starts. He fanned 112 while giving up 242 hits in 360 innings. He had 40 complete games and 7 shutouts. He was 5th in the Southern in ERA and 1st in wins.

Big Stick Awards
A familiar name returned to claim the Northern League award this season, Flagstaff leftfielder Sam Crawford. The 30-year-old hit 14 longballs this year while batting .308. He added 20 doubles, along with 74 runs scored. He was 2nd in the Northern in batting, 3rd in homeruns and 2nd in RBI. Crawford wins the award for an amazing 8th time in his 10-year career.

The Big Stick Award in the Southern was handed to Nogales' leftfielder Sherry Magee (a nice year for Nogales despite the loss in the Cup). Sherry was 142 for 578 (.246) this season, hitting 14 taters and driving in 99 runs. He scored 76 runs on his own. He was 1st in the Southern in RBIs and 2nd in homeruns. Magee wins the award for the 2nd time in his 6-year career.

Rookie of the Year Awards
Getting an award is a nice way to start a career. Prescott's Russ Ford smiled as he was named the Northern Rookie of the Year winner. His ERA of 2.40 helped him to a 19-19 record this year. He struck out 129 and walked 82 in 352.2 innings. He had 37 complete games and 2 shutouts.

Yuma's pitcher Frank Lange worked hard to reach the big leagues. His work paid off as the Southern named him the Rookie of the Year winner! Frank had a record of 18-17 this season, with an ERA of 3.20. In 320.1 Innings he was able to strike out 145 batters. Frank has pitched 4 shutouts and 33 complete games. He was 10th in the Southern in wins.
