Snyder Gets Dumped

Winnipeg - It was supposed to be an easy defence of the British Empire title he won from Jock McAvoy. Just a tuneup really, for a shot at one of the top boys. Angus Snyder of this town got the shock of a lifetime when the scorecards were read last night and the victory and title went to Alberta's Eddie "The Viking" Wenstob. Referee Lou Marsh and the two judges all had Wenstob the winner by a wide margin and explained afterwards that Snyder was just not trying hard enough through most of the match. Wenstob, the blonde battler from Viking Alberta went in a decided underdog, but emerged a champion, improving his record to 20-5-1. Snyder dropped to 28-4-1 and can kiss the big money good-bye.
