New York - Promoter Jimmy Johnston today announced the first round of matches in his All American Heavyweight Championship Elimination Tournament. They are set to take place over the next few weeks in various venues around the country. They are arranged as follows: In Detroit, Joe Louis Vs. Tut Jackson 12 rounds;
in Cincinnati, Al "Big Boy" Bray Vs. KO Christner 12 rounds;
in Akron, Al Gainer Vs. Jack Gross 10 rounds;
in Burlingame, Turkey Thompson Vs. Tiger Jack Fox 8 rounds;
in San Francisco, Abe Simon Vs. Harry Bobo 8 rounds;
in Jersey City, Tony Galento Vs. Babe Hunt 12 rounds;
at New York's Hippodrome, Jimmy Bivins Vs. Gus Dorazio 10 rounds;
and in Pittsburgh Bob Pastor Vs. Natie Brown 10 rounds.
Rising heavyweight threat Joe Baksi has been offered $5,000 to be ready should one of the aforementioned participants fail to show.
