Puzzler here. Richard "Dick" Syms doesn't show up in Boxrec, but he's in the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame. Says he started boxing in 1931, won some district or provincial title at light heavy and heavy, and ended up winning the Canadian heavyweight title in 1938. Possible he was just an amateur, or fought in obscurity in the mining towns of Northern Ontario and just lay claim to the heavyweight title. Records during the Great Depression are pretty shadowy, and a lot of them were lost in the numerous fires in that area during the Thirties. I will include him in my universe as a pro.
