Gaimbi was released because his numbers declined quite a bit. Plus Pitt lost money and needed to dump his 19.5mill contract. I'm sure they couldn't find any takers.
Wright was an anomiley(or however you spell it). He didn't pitch too well but had good run support and stayed healthy. The deal of him for Spiezio is looking like total ownage. The Cards ripped me in that one.
