Well, since I had a great time in Germany during the World Cup, I'm going to help you.
I'm not an advanced user, but here's what I use:
Gambo's Photo Pack:
http://web.mac.com/sixwilsons/iWeb/O...hotopacks.html
place into:
My documents/Sports Interactive/OOTP Baseball 2007/data/photos
(pretty much every picture you'll ever need at this point)
Justafan's logo set:
http://web.mac.com/sixwilsons/iWeb/OOTPMods/Logos.html
(lots of choices)
Insert the logos with:
http://www.planetootp.com/anderson_u...r_ootp2007.htm
(scroll to the bottom and install AULogo Pro)
Gambo's current MLB Park images:
http://web.mac.com/sixwilsons/iWeb/O...Ballparks.html
place into:
My documents/Sports Interactive/OOTP Baseball 2007/data/ballparks
(then change the name for each stadium to link to the appropriate
picture within 'edit stadium' - day & night)
2007 Stadium Chart by Gambo
http://web.mac.com/sixwilsons/iWeb/O...Ballparks.html
If you want to go nuts, you can take this chart and enter in all the correct information for each stadium.
If you want to adjust market sizes based on some rough & old data:

And before you do all that, you will need the rosters.
Getting ready to make history
That is a great thread to follow the step by step process for import.
You can start at any point in major league history up until 2006.
____________________________
Now if you are looking to play the current 2007 season, that would require a bit of work and right now it wouldn't be entirely accurate -- unless you made it so.
Do everything above.
Import the 2006 rosters from lahman and include the stats from 2006 within the import, but put the start date to 1/1/07. Base potential ratings on 'remaining years of career'.
Change the birthdate of every major league player back one year. (minimum of 3 hours - not recommended). As when you import a roster set into any year, the players are always the age they were from the imported year. That way Babe Ruth can play in the late 90's at age 25.
Edit in the correct manager for every team.
Place all players within the free agent pool.
Turn off injuries and trades and simulate up until the start of Spring Training.
Search online for the 40 man opening day roster for every team.
Place every player on their appropriate team via 'edit'.
Create every player that was not within the 2006 database import.
Go through each team and edit any players that were not fairly rated (Derek Lee).
Adjust fan loyalty based on opinion.
Input all player contract information based on:
http://mlbcontracts.blogspot.com/200...f-anaheim.html
Turn on injuries and trades, and it's time for some baseball.

However, you'd probably want to start with a season from the past. Then work your way up through baseball history and learn some actual players, teams, etc.
Or if you just want to learn the game of baseball, starting a fictional world-league with your own cities, teams, and players is always fun too.
