The Broncos failed in their attempt to reach .500, and had their 6 game winning streak snapped yesterday in a 3-2 loss to the 79ers.
Despite entering the game with an ERA over 7.00, Knoxville's
Iemaru Noriyuki was practically untouchable, limiting the Broncos to just 5 hits. Still,
Arden Hawthorn was nearly as masterful, and the Broncos trailed just 1-0 heading into the 7th inning.
In the 7th, the Broncos managed to take the lead at 2-1, but Hawthorn was unable to hold the lead due to an error by new SS
Booker Romero, and Knoxville tied the game at 2 apiece.
Then in 8th inning, left-handed reliever
Ramon Gomez served up a homer to the left-handed hitting
Allen Costner to give Knoxville the lead for good.
