The Denver lineup woke up after mustering just 1 run in the last two games, and knocked off Atlanta 9-5, snapping a three game losing streak.

Alexis Vazquez got things started, with a solo homer in the second inning, and the Broncos added four more runs in the third. Atlanta got into the game with a 3 run fourth inning, but Denver pushed their lead to 6-3 in the bottom of the 4th. The Braves picked up runs in the 5th and 6th innings, to inch within a run. Lee Chappel led off the 8th inning with a homer, however, and the Broncos added a second run in that inning to take an 8-5 lead. One more run in the 9th finished the scoring at 9-5.

Robert McNett had a mediocre performance, pitching 7 IP, allowing 5 runs, and striking out 5. James Virgen picked up his 4th save, throwing two scoreless innings of relief.

Leading the offensive attack were Chappel, Vazquez, and Russell Thomas. Chappel finished with 2 hits, 3 walks, 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored. Vazquez had 3 hits and 2 RBI, while Thomas had 3 hits, 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored.
