LW b 1919 Home Danehurst, Kent, England. Taught to box as a young boy by grandfather. Automechanic. Stinging jab. 18 when he meets Robertson (1937). Ko'd by each in 8th round of a trial bout. Ko's Ginger Blake in sparring match. Tall for a LW. Good straight left. Pro debut KO 3 Dick Sullivan. Matched vs. Lang for vacant title Purse 500 quid. Webb ill at time of fight but insists on going through with the bout. Webb slow in 1st. Down for 7 count in 2nd recovers and drops Lang late in round, saved by bell. 3rd round Webb boxes well. 4th round Webb tiring. Double knockdown, Webb beats count to win. Lang out for 5 minutes. Webb kidnapped prior to bout with Leach. Gardner offers 700/300 quid split for title fight even though according to his contract. Bout 6/6 in Hunton Stadium. Round one Webb starts fast, Leach boxes defensively. 2nd both go toe to toe. Jerry right eye swelling and Leach's nose hurt. 3rd Round Webb ignores corner and engages in infighting. Leach dropped for 4 count prior to bell. Later in fight Webb eye nearly useless and Leache's nose and mouth battered. In 11th Leach uses 2 butts to stun Webb and drop him for 9, unseen by ref. Webb boxes fdefensively for points and is awarded the decision.

LW English LW title holder. Deceptive style, fights with hands at his side. Good counter puncher. Clincher. Not a good boxer, but has a big right hand, slugger. Can he hit. KO's Jerry Webb in 8th round of a trial bout after feigning being hurt. Relinquishes title. Sham retirement. Comeback vs Webb for title. Leach, an aging vet is out for a big purse. Gardner offers 700/300 quid split for title fight even though according to his contract. Bout 6/6 in Hunton Stadium. Round one Webb starts fast, Leach boxes defensively. 2nd both go toe to toe. Left service in poor health. Wife aided his recovery and he won the English title. 11/20/20 has bout for world title vs. Politzer. Titlebout vs Miller. lost 1st 4 rounds. Outboxed. Floored Miller with hooks to body that were landed treacherously-no fouls called. 8th round Miller the aggressor and trading. Round 9 Politzer floored by body, chin combo. Down for 9 and saved by the bell. Final round Miller is dropped and falls clear out of
