A pitcher is never involved in catching a popup unless he's the only guy around that CAN make the play. Even a popup right to the mound the pitcher moves out of the way and lets an infielder catch it. The only way a pitcher catches a ball is a line drive back to him or a popup bunt.
So the play is wrong.
On a different note, we did figure out that "behind the plate" seems to be a zone that stretches some distance up the baselines as well. On this one, the ball is probably caught around half way up one of the lines, making it slightly more believable, but still wrong.
