I'm just wondering how the game processes player's performances (as gauged by stats) in determining player ratings for fictional players or in fictional leagues. say, there is a player with not so much power in terms of power rating (not from bad scouting, but from his real power ability as seen in the player editor), but for whatever reason was able to hit 50 homeruns in a particular year. does this have any effect on (re-)calculating the player's ratings, come next season? would his power rating go up?

more broadly, what are the mechanisms behind calculations of player ratings as time passes?
