TIGERS LOSE HEILMANN FOR REST OF SEASON
The Detroit Tigers slim hopes of challenging the Boston Red Sox for the American League crown to a huge hit with news that second baseman Harry Heilmann will likely miss the rest of the season. The 27 year old Heilmann (.327,17,101) had been the Tigers best offensive threat this season.
Detroit will be forced to move shortstop Tillie Shafer (.269,4,50) to second to fill in for Heilmann. Donie Bush (.252,0,43), who had lost his starting job when the Tigers acquired Shafer from Washington last month, will go back in the lineup at short.
