Two-time world middleweight champion Marvin Hagler will make the next defense of his title against New York - Italian Vito Antuofermo in September.
In other world title news, lightweight champ Roberto Duran will make the third defense of his title, also in September, against US champ Harry Arroyo. The two have met before, with Arroyo being the only man to take 'Hands of Stone' the distance. Duran has chillingly stated that this time Arroyo won't make it beyond the first round.
North American and United States middleweight champ Bernard 'The Executioner' Hopkins will put his titles on the line in August against Mark Medal. It is expected to be the chief support to the Larry Holmes v Tim Witherspoon world heavyweight title fight, to be staged in Pennsylavania. Holmes, Witherspoon, and Hopkins all hail from Pennsylvania.
The semi-final re-match in the welterweight tournament between Don Curry and Antonio Cervantes takes place in August over twelve rounds. Both men fought to a twelve round draw last month. The winner meets Sugar Ray Leonard for the vacant world title.
Bazooka Limon and Jose Luis Ramirez will meet over twelve rounds in August for the inaugral Mexican lightweight bauble.
Federal agents are still searching high and low for GBA vice-president Rob Lord, who is on the run for numerous offenses relating to the Ray Mancini case. His last sighting was in the Far East. Rewards for his whereabouts have been posted.
