The Broncos opened the season in impressive fashion. Kenny Pillsbury pitched a complete game in the season opener, with 10 strikeouts, and the Broncos went on to sweep the Tigers in three games. Backed by strong starting pitching and hot bats, the Broncos have also won the first two games of a 4 game series against Charlotte. Through one week of play, the Broncos are the only undefeated team.

Lee Chappel picked up where he left off last season, by going 12 for 24, with 5 doubles, 1 triple, 3 homeruns, 8 runs batted in, and 10 runs scored in the first week of the season. This was good enough to win the Player of the Week award.

Alexis Vazquez was also a strong performer, going 10 for 21, with a double, 2 homeruns, 7 runs batted in, and 5 runs scored. He reached 200 homeruns in his career, as well.

Asbel Fuentez stole the 600th base of his career, moving him into a tie for 13th place (Joseph Barnhill) on the all time stolen base list. Fuentez has a strong chance of moving into the top 10 in stolen bases this season, needing only 28 more to accomplish that.
