Remembering the Hall of Famers: Kangorou Yataro

LF Kangorou Yataro:

Kangourou Yataro was one of the most feared sluggers in the early days of the league. Known for his fearsome power and tremendous batting eye, Yataro was an 11 time All Star and won 4 Silver Slugger Awards(only 7 players have won at least 4 SS's). Despite a sudden loss in power at the end of his career that left him short of 500 career HR- he finished with 493- Yataro had 4 consecutive 50 HR seasons from 2009 to 2012.

Yataro was one of the key players on those early Pittsburgh teams which dominated so much. His efforts contributed to 8 World Series championships for Pittsburgh, including 6 in a row from 2008 to 2013. It is difficult to pick out a particular postseason run for Yataro as being the "best," since he had only one that could even be considered bad. Still, his 2009 run was probably the most incredible. He batted .423 with a .651 OBP. He collected 5 extra base hits in 26 at bats, and had a 17 to 1 walk to strikeout rate.
