Remembering the Hall of Famers: SS Timothy Knight
Timothy Knight:
Shortstop Timothy Knight was the first Hall of Famer not to have been taken in the 2003 inaugural draft. Instead, he was selected by Washington second overall in 2006. Knight rapidly turned into one of most dominant AL sluggers, leading the league in homeruns four years in a row- from 2012 to 2015. He was most famed for surpassing Scott Border on the all time HR list in 2018. Alas for Knight, as the league blossomed with power hitters in the '20s, he was toppled from the top of the list in 2022 by Tony Martinez. Today, Knight's 570 HR do not even rank among the top 25. Knight was also one of seven players to win at least 4 Silver Slugger Awards, two of which have already been mentioned- Scott Border and Kangorou Yataro.
