ML Contract extensions to minor leaguers ignored
solo MLB-style fictional league, latest patch:
I've just noticed an issue when Major League contract extensions are given to minor league players. It seems that at least in some cases, when a player with a Major League contract extension is in the minors when contracts are renewed, his Major League extension is replaced with a minor league one. I've tested with 18-year old rubbish player Kapali Odern, who is playing in Rookie ball:
-on Nov 3rd, 2018, I offer him a $2.38 million one year extension. He accepts (no surprise- he's terrible!). His player profile lists a $2.38m extension for the coming year;
-Free Agents file on Nov 22nd, 2018. Odern is still in Rookie ball- indeed not even on the 40-man roster- and I check his profile now: the $2.38m contract extension is no longer listed. He has a minor league contract;
-On April 1st, 2019, I add Odern to my Major League roster to see what will happen to his contract status. He is given a Major League contract at the league minimum salary ($380k).
I checked the Salary Report on all three dates, and Odern was never listed.
I've noticed this now a few times, particularly when resigning minor league free agents who request ML contracts. If Odern had been given a $2.38m contract when I recalled him, I could maybe justify this game behaviour to myself by thinking of the contract as a 2-way contract, but as is, this doesn't seem right.
