Carlos Testa:
Carlos Testa was the very first player taken in an amateur draft, selected number one overall by Kansas City in 2004. He split his first professional season between AAA and the major leagues before becoming an everyday player in 2005. He rapidly developed into one of the more well-rounded 1B in the game, displaying both doubles and homerun power, an ability to hit for average, and excellent plate discipline. He even proved himself to be a slight threat on the basepaths. In 2007, he made the first of 10 All Star games.
In 2012, he brought Atlanta to the brink of a championship with a tremendous postseason performance, that included a 3 HR game in Game Two of the World Series. Alas, his Braves blew a 3 games to 2 series lead, and lost in 7 games to Pittsburgh.
Two years later, however, Testa would have his revenge. The Braves stopped Pittsburgh's run of championships at 6, knocking them off in 6 games in 2014. In Game One, Testa delivered a 2 out, three run homer in the 6th inning to erase a 2-1 deficit, and the Braves prevailed 6-2. In Game Four, with the Braves leading the series 2 games to 1, Testa broke a 1-1 tie in the 8th inning by hitting a two run double. Atlanta went on to win that game, 4-1. Testa would drive in 8 runs in the series.
From 2018 to 2020, Atlanta lost three consecutive ALCS, all in 7 games. Testa performed relatively poorly in all three series. In 2021, Testa, then 38 years old, fought through multiple injuries during the season that caused him to miss nearly three months of the season. But he was healthy for the playoffs, and he batted .308 with a .987 OPS to help lead Atlanta to another World Series victory.
To this day, Testa is 24th all time in doubles, 4th all time in walks, and 7th in runs scored.
