We signed today free agent 2B/SS Luis Rivas (.259, 6 HR, 45 RBI, 10 SB for Cleveland) to a 2 year $ 1,220,000 contract. He should fill the hole that Graffanino's departure left.

MLB announced today to start the season with the two expansion teams facing each other for an expansion games. We were left wondering if MLB considered the climate in Buffalo in early March?

Once again we did business with the Phillies. This time to solve our problem at Nr. 4/5 starter. We sent SP Claudio Vargas (6-9, 4.95 ERA) and minor leaguer SP Tim Dillard packing and got SP Freddy Garcia (11-11, 5.16 ERA). Despite his ugly numbers last season we think that Garcia is a much better pitcher than Vargas. Time will show ...

Six weeks after they were founded the Buffalo Blizzards hired a GM. Before that they signed two veteran free agents Isringhausen from St. Louis and Lowell from Boston.
