Sam Shumway followed his career path, as I see.

I viewed the creation of Shumway as a real personal challenge. Mike Silver was kind enough to talk with Tiger Ted Lowery, on my behalf, about Shumway and share Lowery's recollections with me. Got some insight into his style and local popularity from this. Creating Sam was a challenge because he had to be good enough to notch a win vs. Tiger Ted in a series of bouts and bad enough to loose to Coley Welch (rated as a MW in mt db) and also loose to an over the hill Unknown Winston. Lots of playtesting and tinkering off and on over the span of several years. I look at Shumway as my graduation exercise in fighter creation.
