June 24, 1877 - Sunday Base Ball Report
Chicago White Stockings 16-4
Hartford Dark Blues 10-6
Louisville Grays 9-9
Boston Red Caps 8-8
Cincinnati Reds 6-11
St. Louis Brown Stockings 4-15
All the big news this week was on the injury front, and it was uniformly bad for the league's top teams. First and foremost, Chicago's superstar and defending MVH Levi Meyerle has an arm injury and is not expected back until the end of next month. Since outfielder Thake was already injured, this means that two of Chicago's top hitters will be out for the next month.
However, Hartford may not in position to take advantage, as they just lost outfielder Orator Shaffer to a shoulder injury that will keep him out possibly until the end of the season. Other notable players who have been injured recently include Cincinnati's Bob Addy and Bobby Mitchell, Louisville's Art Allison, and George Wright of the St. Louis club.
