May 2008 - Milwaukee Brewers
Manager and GM Fritsche
10th May 2008
Again the final game of a series which is tied so far. But after what I saw yesterday, I'm not really optimistic. Also Chris Capuano is not yet rested, therefore Freddy Garcia gets the start.
Game #33 – Florida [17-15] (C. Volstad 3-1, 4.05 ERA) at Milwaukee [15-17] (F. Garcia 0-0, 5.79 ERA)
SS C. Izturis - CF S. Victorino - LF R. Braun - 1B P. Fielder - 3B B. Hall - C J. Estrada - RF F. Gutierrez - SS A. Escobar
This game was a copy of the last one, but this time Freddy Garcia was the unlikely hero delivering the best pitching performance for us this season so far. He almost went the distance allowing only five baserunners (three hits and two batters hit by the pitch). Like our bullpen the Marlins bullpen had one horrible inning to put the game out of reach.
Florida at Milwaukee: 1-8
W: F. Garcia (1-0), L: C. Volstad (3-2)
HR - /
MoM: F. Garcia - 8.2 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 10 K
After this superiour performance by Garcia I have a luxury problem in the rotation. All five regular starters have an ERA below 4 and the spot starter Garcia pitches like CY Young in person. Should we start a six man rotation or should we look to trade one of the starters?
Garcia didn't walk a batter in 13.1 innings so far this season. He allowed only 8 hits and struck out 16.
