We decided to give Luis Rivas another chance after he terrorized AAA pitchers hitting .571 in his short stint at Nashville. The other options would have Vinny Rottino or Bradley Harman, who game over from the Phillies system in the Cordero trade. None of these guys offers a powerful bat, but Rivas should at least fill the hole in defense. The plan is that he and Escobar share most of would have been Weeks bats in early innings. Victorino is supposed to bat 2nd.

Nevertheless we sent our scouts to check some 2B free agents on the market.

The Phillies 1B Ryan Howard (.329, 12 HR, 26 RBI) signed a 3 year $30,900,000 contract.

The Mariners traded SS Yuniesky Betancourt (.324, 1 HR, 6 RBI) and last years 6th round draft pick 1B Vincent Bruce to the Blizzards for 2B Josh Barfield (.274, 2 HR, 21 RBI) and LF Ryunosuke Yoshioka (.177, 1 HR, 8 RBI - A).
