Fight Night
1970-03-12, Estadio Municipal Malvinas, Argentina
Larry Middleton 25-1-0 (8) v Manuel Ramos 26-10-2 (13) II
This is in every possible way a rematch. As Manuel is ranked way down the rankings, that can't be the objective of this fight for Larry. This is about the pride of Larry Middleton. Larry suffered his first and only loss at the hands of Manuel. That happened in May of 1968. The fight was very even until Manuel stopped Larry in the 10th and final round. To further make this fight dramatic it is held at the exact same stadium as in May, 1968.
Both figters are in top shape.
Larry wins the 1st. He dominates in 2nd. Larry wins a close 3rd as Manuel really fights back. A dominate 4th round from Larry. Manuel starts well in the 5th until he is sent to the canvas. Manuel shows heart as he gets up quickly to fight on. As Manuel has been cut after an accidental headbutt the fight goes to the scorecards here in the 5th.
The scorecards are:
39-37, 40-36, 40-36 all for the winner by unanimous decision.. Larry Middleton. Right after the fight, Larry states that he want to fight him again saying that this wasn't a true win for him.
Larry moves to 26-1-0 (8) and Manuel moves to 26-11-2 (13)
