To remove the 2-game series means reducing the number of series overall. The standard major league approach is two series per week. With a 26-week season that means 52 series. Having an All-Star break means one week will have three series played in it in compensation, and that naturally requires two 2-game series (i.e. a week consisting of 2-2-3 series).
Hmm intresting, as I never remember seeing a two game series. Disregard my previous statement then.
